What a relief, I thought someone on the assembly line in smartville left his or her lunch on my exhaust. It's more like a Renault burn in than anything German. 2,600 miles and it usually happens when I've had cueball out on the open road.
I still smell the burnt engine smell even at 10,500 miles! I asked about this at the service center and they said they didn't see anything touching the engine that could cause the problem.
I'm at 30,000 miles (today) and still have the smell. To me it's just the smell of a very hot exhaust system that is being used to reduce exhaust emissions. I stopped worrying about the smell 6 months ago.

That and the 6 inches of dust that will accumulate on said exhaust system. Mine has more dust on it now than my Grand Am accumulated in 5 years. Must be the airflow. No worries... it's ok.
