New Smart-Synthetic oil from the factory?

Does the Smart come from the factory with synthetic motor oil or do they tell you to wait for a few miles before you start using it?

I know that this is an ongoing argument. When I received my car I immediately looked at the rear and there was a Mobil 1 sticker next to the engine cover. I had intended to change the oil at least after the first 1000 miles. So, I go to the dealer with my own oil of choice and the service manager advises me to wait at least to the first 5000 miles because of some "additives" in the oil used during the break-in period. At the 5000 mile mark I returned again with my oil of choice and they gladly changed it for me for a mere $26.63 (total - shop supplies, o'ring, oil filter, labor & taxes). What the additives are, who knows. It is anyone's guess or maybe he was just blowing smoke, but suffice it to say that they did not question me about my oil choice. The comment was that the choice was a good one.

So, what do you have? An '08 Passion? An '09 Cabrio? What did you end up buying?

Here's an old post to peruse that might provide some information for you:
Questions about the Smart engine,oil,gas,etc.

What the hell did this guy start a new thread on question they already asked. I think he had a brain fart.

I have been to the Mercedes prep operations center here in Jacksonville and can attest to the fact that the smarts are all drained of the oil the they were shipped with and "by orders of Penske" were re-filled with Mobil one full synth oil. I even have the pics of the bays they do it through.

What we really want is a picture of Jwight in a thong holding a margarita reminiscing about life before smart............. a calmer, simpler existence.
