New tire -Great alternative to dealership

7 a.m. and the right rear tire is flatter than flat. Any one who has tried using Park Place in Dallas knows they are not the easiest to get through to or most helpful. Eventually did find out tire alone was $149. Called Continental tollfree number since I thought the tire was still in warranty and they didn't even mention Park Place as an authorized dealer but recommended Discount Tire. I'd never used them before but they were absolutely great (ask for Kerry)...he immediately called around, found the tire, had it sent to the store nearest to me and replaced it for $109. He did it all with a great attitude and called to check on me a couple of times. I haven't been able to get Park Place to return even one urgent call. What a difference in service.

Any one know where I can get an oil change other than the dealership?

It's very easy to do yourself.

Otherwise, just buy the oil and filter, and take it to your local mechanic. There's nothing unique or difficult about changing the oil on the smart.

If you insist on paying more for an oil change.. sure go ahead to the nearest Stealership and let them rape your wallet

Why not read up on how its done and either do it yourself as others have suggested or buy it he filter and go to a local shop and teach them to work on your smart.. they will be very interested in doing it for the knowledge and later they can advertise "smart oil change" and get our business.

What size tire does the Smart take? About the oil change there should be a place on every street corner that will do oil changes. We have a BP station 2 blocks from here that charges $22 for a oil change. Most places it's ranges from $20-$30. What does the dealership usually charge?

The oil change will cost more because you will need 0W-40 and possibly Mobile 1. The oil alone will cost you some money. Then you need the filter.

The tires are 155/65-15 and 175/55-15 in the back if I am not mistaken. I have always gone to Discount Tire to get my wheels worked on. They have excellent service, they are about 1.5 miles from my home, and they are skilled and professional. PLUS, when I bring the smart in they love how the wheels only have 3 lug nuts to remove them, even though they have to manually lift each corner.

Is it mandatory that you use 0W-40 oil? Can't use 5W-30? Does it also take a special Smart-only filter?
