This appears to be a compilation of 2008 and 2009. So I guess you could say the smart gets a nod two years running.

So do several other cars on the '09 list (Prius, Yaris, Fit, &c.)...

Most importantly, the smart is the second most affordable after the Yaris and these two are the only ones in the under $13,000 range.

Some of the other cars in there are not really affordable to the poor. The Prius is almost double the cost at $22,000: the poor of the land need not apply.

My Cabrio wasn't mega-bux, but it wasn't exactly cheap either...
