Nick in third brake light ?

Look at your third brake light. ( center one ) Does it have a nick or ruff spot in the center? It might be a extrusion spot or mine is bad from the factory? Mine came in with the driver window weather strip nicked up from what I think is a Ice scraper. I am wondering if anyone else has a center light dot on their's

There is a circular indentation in the center of the light, on the lower edge. Looks like a mold mark. We have it on both of our smarts.

...also mine is full of water/moisture..I know is coming from the corners where the metal meets the plastic...thought I fixed that...oh well...time to reseal it...

Mine had this too, jetfuel - wasn't sure if it was leaking or condensation. The dealer replaced it under warranty. The new piece doesn't leak at all.

Sorry...... I just was thinking of those poor Smarts that got the ice beat off of them. My car, according to the dealer, was up in Michigan at a dealer that closed this winter. It might have been a victim of the DE-ICER

that mark (Nick) on the lens is from the molding process, it is where the sprue was in the mold. The sprue is where the plastic gets pushed into the cavitity where the lens is formed, my guess there are several cavitity's (that's the most cost effect way to do production runs) in the mold and when they take them out it looks like a lens tree.

Remember when ya built models as a kid all the parts were attached to that plastic frame, thats a sprue.

When I picked up All Ball, at least 50% of the cars in the showroom had condensation in the stop lamp, including his. I made sure they swapped it out for a new, non-leaking one before I took delivery. I also ended up having to get the driver's side fender turn signal replaced because of moisture in it.

...yep is a production thing...if you remove the third light assy you will see a small gap between the plastic and the metal plate in the upper corners....clear RTV will fill the gap and prevent any water from getting in ...
