In NJ, I guess it just doesn't make sense to buy super!
The report is all over the news this morning...
The government tested the fuel at over 1100 gas stations over the past week here in NJ... what they found is nothing short of amazing...
Over 1/3 of the stations tested were issued fines for violations!!!
Violations ranged from shorting people gas (by as much as 1 qt per gallon) to selling regular 87 octane as super!!!
In fact, most of the stations fined were selling 87 octane in the 92 octane tank.
This morning on the radio they interviewed gas haulers who admitted that recently they have been offered cash money (anywhere from $20 to $100) to fill the super holding tank with 87 octane gas...

This is despicable...
I might as well buy the regular 87 octane.
DESPICABLE, to say the least! Every one of these station's names should be published in a public forum. Granted, I don't live in Jersey, but it would send the message to others around the country not to try to screw their customers unless they are willing to risk losing their customers and therefore their business!
I suspect that this practice has been going on for years. I recall a discussion with service station owner back in the 70's. He indicated that this practice was going on. Really don't know how wide spread it was back then.
For these station owners, this is what chain and padlocks were made for!! Close them down, revoke their business licenses, charge them with fraud in the courts, make them give out free gas until the tanks are empty!!
