Not a good thing to happen to anyone, I hope all involved are OK. Scares hell out of you and takes your car from you until fixed or replaced. I've bee hit twice. Both times stopped at a lighted intersection, one unlicensed (suspended) and uninsured. It is no picnic!! dealing with the insurance companies and the parties involved.

Bob (in Yuma), yes I used the Y word; Yaris,Yaris,Yaris - there, used it again. Nothing hateful about it, except in a few folks' minds. The other Bob understood where I was coming from in attempting to make light of that "other" thread. However, I agree with your point on some of the comments that end up on this forum; some people have no filter between their brain and their keyboard. As said before, we're all here as smart enthusiasts, and also car people in general. Most of all, we're members of a community and should be able to treat our fellow members with respect at all times. Off the soapbox now.

My comment really wasnt directed at you. Heck you could have said Volkswagen Bug and got the same laugh from me, it was just how a negative comment got pulled from somewhere in the thread that was aimed at a positive discussion on accidents in a small car. Very relevant. I drive a "big" truck, well not that big, and would not like to be hit by a logging truck. My small car I would not want to be hit by the truck I drive. But would like to know if it happened how it would if fair in the accident if it did get hit. Gotta be alert out there. Ya all take care now ya here.

Tom, I haven't heard anything yet. It was my friend, Jayme, who told me about it. She works with me and is an EMT near Stratford. Since we all know most of the Smart owners down there I was concerend that it was one of you guys. Jayme didn't even know the color of the car yet but she did say that the fortwo did not fare well in the incident. You know 295 is a very fast highway. As I try to drive the speed limit of 60 most cars are flying by me. The average real speed on the road is 70+. There has been nothing on the news. I'll see if she found anything out on Monday.
A side note....her next door neighbor just bought one...silver/silver.

I'm not sure this thread ever had a topic. Just a pointless post with no details that managed to trigger some name calling and speculation. Nothing constructive.

Try reading. The post is about someone we may know in our area getting hurt in a fortwo. Is this person ok and did the car handle the crash? If you're missing the point maybe it's not the post with the problem. Please try to stay on topic. If you don't have anything constructive to add then don't.

I'll post more details when I find.them.
I did not hear of an accident....going northbound from Cherry Hill anyway, yesterday morning. I picked up my W/S/R passion at 10 AM and was on the road north at 11.

Fred and/or Bob- have you heard/read anything about problems with the engine compartment pin latch being defective? I had taken the cover off to look at the engine and had a tough time getting the half-twist pin to engage on the ears. Finally had to remove some rough edges and it latched. I'm not opening again until the dealer looks at it. The channel in the pin seems to have been milled incorrectly, and the plastic key-like thumb screw seems cheap. How do I start a thread on this?

Didn't someone post something about the cover needing a little push forward, to engage more deeply in its receiving groove? That would let the latch to turn more freely.
But there was also a mention of the pin getting twisted in the same post.
Sorry, this is a quick note: running out to get the car!
