No Dealership

Anybody like to venture a guess as to when we who have no dealership can expect to get our Smart.

And no, I do not want to go 350 miles to get it.

Good question. Answer - if you aren't willing to travel, perhaps NEVER!

You might price the cost of a roll-back delivery from the servicing dealer. That might work if you felt comfortable with concluding the paperwork by fax/snailmail and sight unseen.

I know smart center Seattle is covering all the way to Montana and it sounds like they have shipping and transportation already figured out.

Looks like either Houston (now) or Jackson, MS (later) for you guys in Louisiana. At least you don't live in North Dakota (not that there's anything wrong with that...)

BTW, I graduated from East Jefferson many, many moons ago.

I will be one of the first ones delivered in Riverside CA, and I live in Vegas. It's 250 miles drive but I am fine with that. I was contacted about a week and half ago. I take delivery Monday morning. So I guess your distance doesn't change your place in line. Vegas is even getting a dealer in the next 6-8 months. I just can't wait that long.

Wow, I would have thought that Las Vegas and New Orleans would be big enough cities to warrent a dealership.

How does this work anyway. We seem to have several in L.A. Why do we have so many and another big city has none?

and obviously I missed this discussion, sorry to make it be repeated.

Las Vegas is getting a dealer it's just not among the first wave to be opened. I think Vegas will be joined by 5 other dealers by the end of 2008 but I just can't remember where they are. We have plenty of MB dealers here so I am not sure why we were not one of the first but oh well.

With your reservation number (1279), perhaps you'll take delivery when Jackson,MS opens?

Burning out on anticipation

I read another post from a few months ago that 'robby4747' contacted the local M-B dealer and basically got blown off about them being a dealer for Smart. Benson (owner of the Saints) is the M-B dealership owner (as far as I know) and it suprises me he wouldn't expand to carry Smart considering the popularity that seems to be growing. It would be great if Jackson MS opens up. Not looking forward to travelling to Houston as the closest dealer although I am willing to do it at this point.
Can we rally the forum members to call local dealerships for other areas that have nothing close yet to make them think there is a big interest so they open up?
I called Smart in March just to make sure they hadn't forgotten about me and to mention I didn't want to wait a year to get a vehicle. They told me not to worry, that I would get a confirm letter in a couple months (nothing yet) and my vehicle would be delivered about 3 months after that. So far I am starting to think I won't be driving it until late '09.
Bummer

Thanks for your time and be careful out there,
Pops
