Not to be a downer, but it's troubling that we all have new cars that are at most a few months old... and many here are suggesting we buy vehicle diagnostic tools to figure out all the problems with them? Dang! Still, the smart is a pretty cool car.

Well, you can always take it to the dealer and have them do it for free. Some of us have to travel a good bit do get the aforementioned dealer, and it's worthwhile to buy a diagnostic tool to self reapir the easy stuff rather than make the trip.

My dealer is close, but the service hours don't exactly line up with mine. If I can clear a loose gas code, for the price of a tool, it's cheaper to me thna the hassle of taking it to the dealer.
