However, I still think it too broad a stroke...
Is the grammar, spelling and punctuation on these type forums or chat rooms lacking? Absolutely but some of that is folks with poor typing skills and modern keyboards don't help much.... some is folks just not desiring to spend the time to correct what they see as a leisure activity...and some actually try to write weird or abbreviated cuz dey thk it cool
A major portion of my job is reading and writing a lot of reports, briefings and decision papers... I and my teams also create reams and reams of paper Test and Evaluation Master plans, System Evaluation Plans and several other Army Acquisition documents... From my perspective the skill and art is not really lost .... To some degree, I like the computer based ways of making my technical writing more readable....but acknowledge it does make me real lazy
