BTW, i love the choice of blue and yellow; those were my school colors (go Cal!). I think your car will rock.
Technically, in my state, yeah....but most likely it won't happen. But I have seen it used as "probable cause" to pull someone over to see if the VIN matches or to see if another crime is going on.

Here in CT the Tridion color is the color that is recorded on the vehicle registration. The Tridion cage is the only exposed item where its color cannot be 'easily' changed.

If you want to paint the plastic panels, it's best to have painted panels to begin with; as the surface is already prepared for painting. From what I've read the white, black, and yellow are the color of the plastic as well, and those will need to be primed, etc.

It might be best to order your car with the more expensive metallic blue panels ($225 extra) as a post a few weeks back claimed that the extra set of metallic panels price was increasing from $1099 to $1499. The extra set of yellow will only set you back $899, and would be available from your dealer.

Painting my car a different color can be probable cause for a police stop? Like I said, that's just hooey. Is there an option for checking off "multi-colored" on the registration?

Vin Number

I don't know how the smart car does it, but you can tell what
color my chevy was originally by the vin number. Or, at least,
that's what other chevy owners tell me. <g> Personally, I've
never looked up the codes....
