Official color of your smart

Ok, we all know that a vehicle is listed with a color. So what are the smarts listed as/ The tridion cell? body panels? Do you have to re-register the color when you swap panels?

Not all juridictions do state a color on the title/registration. Few of those who do, list the tridion's. In view of the ease of changing panels, it does make sense, doesn't it?

this has been mentioned and discussed before.

i think it really depends on the State. here in Indiana, when you go to 'register' your car and get your plate (tag as some call it), the BMV will ASK you "what color is your car?"

when i do my While/Black Passion, i'm telling them "Black" as that is the only part of the car that is PERMANANT. the way i see it, all the 'White' pieces are 'trim' and should not be considered part as the color of the car.

but that's just MY opinion......

our "Titles" here in Indiana do not state 'color', but the 'registration' DOES! like i said, when i 'register' my smart, i'm giving them the color of the Tridion as THE color of the car.

Here in FL . . .

Here in FL, the color is listed as the Tridion cell color, i.e., my red/black was listed as "black" - makes sense to me, since the other color can change at will.

Ohio takes two colors if it's not a single color. Mine would be red/black. Listing only the Tridion color would be inviting an inquiry by a LEO. But, as in all situations like this, the VIN would rule the day. You list the color on initially registering the car, no provision I know of requiring notification of color change, though there may be.

In SC, my car is listed as Black (tridion). As mentioned earlier, they use the "permanent" color (at least, that's what the dealership told me. what do I know...)
