Official Smart Wave
if and when I actually encounter another Smart on the road, is there any official Smart wave?
For my Jeep, there's official rules and criteria about who waves first even, but at least most everyone knows to wave.

Haven't heard of any yet; just wave, flash the lights, honk and they'll get it.

Wow, Cathy, We learn something new every day. I have had my Jeep for 15 years and don't know the protocol. Where can I find it?

Had a Jeep many moons ago. Never knew of any such protocol myself either. Color me ignorant.

Official Jeep wave
Here you go:

There's an old joke - but difficult to do with the written word...
(Waving open hand back and forth - about 12 incles or so,) "Know what this is?"
Answer: "A wave."
(now, hold your hand still, palm out, and bend your fingers at the knuckles, up and down just a smidge)
"Ok. What's this?"
Answer: "A microwave."
(Little ones scream with laughter.)

I think there is a special wave if a big SUV/Pickup Truck or 18 Wheeler is hugging the rear bumper of your smart.

From my experience, that is not a wave but a salute. Welcome to the United States Jeep Defense Unit.

Is there a "signing" symbol for "smart?"

If I see ya I'll wave. If I don't see you to wave then don't get yer panties in a wad.
