Oh no! I broke off my wiper stalk!!!

And the worst thing is that I can't get the wipers turned off now.

Seriously, has anyone else done this yet. I'm hoping that it's not a very involved process. If it requires removing the airbag to replace, it's not going to be cheap.

I have seen them break off when they catch on the sleeve of a coat and you are turning the steering wheel. Usually it has been the turn signal lever on older Chevrolets.

You can watch me remove the wiper stalk within the first 10 minutes or so of my new video found here where the wiper stalk removal is an integral part of the Area451 cruise control installation (and the instrument cluster LED). I can't vouch for the cost of the part but I can say it's quick & easy to get in and out!

I just had mine replaced under warranty... For some reason it cracked and became loose.

That's almost as bad as me messing up my odometer cluster. I can see it getting hung though and that really sucks. I bet there is a fuse you can pull for the wipers.

Check the manual or search here for fuse locations and pull the fuse to stop the wiper.

Removing the steering wheel cover is not hard. If you do that, you'll be able to get to the remains of your wiper stalk to move it into the off, or any other, position. Watch John H's video or go to Area451 and follow the step here for removing the cover (it's a step in installing their cruise control.)
