You're in luck since you broke the wiper stalk. The MDC cruise unit completely replaces the wiper stalk with a new one, so you may be able to find a MDC owner that wouldn't mind parting with their old stalk. Try posting in the Wanted forum, and/or ask in one of the 2 or 3 MDC cruise discussion threads.

You may also want to contact SmartieParts, since they've done some installs of the MDC (they're the only current US distributor that I know of). They may have a few sitting on the shelf waiting for a buyer. Either option would probably be cheaper than getting the replacement for smart direct.
