Oh yea, I've heard that before...

Wife just picked-up her new smart yesterday and we had been invited to a friend's 40th birthday. On the way there, we stopped to pick-up him a case of his favorite beer (Miller Lite...LOL). I went into a convenient store while she was waitting and as I was checking out, I noticed a sheriff's car had pulled up beside her and he was talking to her. By the time I got done, they were both outside of the car with the hatch open. I walked out and placed the case of beer in the hatch and told the officer it was for a friend. I told him that I don't even drink anymore (which is somewhat the truth, guess I must of grown-up or maybe just too damn old). He laughed and and told me he that he was interested in the car after reading about and this was this was the first one that he had actually seen. As far as I know, ours is the third one in this area but there is a 450 model used by the local limousine service as advertizement so I guess that is four. Did think this was rather funny though and this was only the first day!

Get used to it! I was pulled over/flagged down three times in the first two weeks I owned my Bumblebee. I will admit though that my bright colour does attract a little more attention than say a silver/silver one would.

I got stopped the other day by the Highway Patrol, he asked lots of questions about the car, then asked for my license. I got a written warning for going 3 mph over the posted limit. Now when he sees me, he flashes his headlights and waves. I make sure I am under the speed limit. Wish I had that cruise control.

I got pulled over one Sunday in July by a state trooper and he told me off the back that the only reason he pulled me over was that I didn't have my front plates on. (required in TX) After he ran my info. through his computer he came back with a warning and proceeded to ask me about the smart car. It was the first one he's seen. He's heard much about it in the news. He was nice and I offered him to seat inside. But he declined since he pulled me over on a tollway.

Funny, they only give you guys warnings because they need a REAL reason to stop you, but it's funny that they ask you positive questions after giving you your warning.

If the Ohio state troopers stopped cars for 3 mph over there'd be a line of cars from one end of the state to the other. They don't even wake up unless you're 10 over here.

Most cops around here barely pay attention, you really have to be doing something obviously stupid to get stopped.
