Actually ended up being a transmission seal. They have to drop the trans. Should get it back next Tuesday. Kind of scares me that this happened with only 500 miles. They said this is the first one that they have seen. It is the Atlanta Dealer and I think Atlanta and Dallas are the biggest volume dealers. It would be my luck to have the only one that this has happened to.
Must have been a defective seal or it got damaged during assembly. I don't think your problem will be common because main seals on modern cars are very good.
Remember old British cars? That was different
UPDATE- left zippy at smart center orlando this morning they fixed the pan leak and had it done a little after lunch. Thanks to some hard work by kevin. THANK YOU SMART CENTER ORLANDO. As usual a nice experience dealing with them. Great bunch at SMART ORLANDO. GOOD PEOPLE. thanks again BOB.
Taking my 09 into the dealer on monday. Looks like gear oil. It's my fault though. I keep it parked next to the Harley. The bike must be teaching the Smart some nasty habits.
Took mine in Friday, they told me it was the rear main seal. Also told me they have seen 3 or 4 in the last couple of months. One had only 20 miles on it.
