I use mine to hold my GPS. I fashioned a wood disk the size of the bottom of a cola can, glued the base of my GPS "stick" to it and it works GREAT! The GPS is not as visible to possible thieves. It is positioned higher then the front one which I use for my "cups". I drilled a hole in the back of the glove box, ran a MP3 cable from my GPS to the jack in the glove box and now the sound comes through the radio!

I asked my dealer as well. He said none of the 09s have the insert. The manual does refer to it though.

The manual implies that the 09 comes with it. It apparently doesn't but you can buy one. According to the sales folks at SF Mercedes, most folks just throw them out because they stick to what ever is inserted in them.

As to the radio, the manual does say that the 10 should show text for the radio. The manual is wrong.

For CD text, play almost any Sony labeled CD made after 1997 and you should see text. (SONY, BMG, Arista, Columbia, etc.)

When I sold my 08 I kept the cup holder, when I picked up my 09, no cup holder. Since I didn't use it anyway, I didn't even ask why, now I know.
