one BAD radio feature

I got the premium sound package with my smart so it has the 6 Disc changer.

One thing I noticed that I don't like is that when I play CD's with continuous tracks such as concert CD's or live mix CD's, the player will pause in between each track. It does not continue seamlessly into the next track.

Is this something isolated to the premium radio or does even the standard radio do this?

This is something I've never encountered before on a CD player. I don't know why it does that. I hope there is some fix for this.

Very interesting but its hard to say if that is a flaw or how the player should act.

out of curiosity, is this a cd that you burned from itunes? if so, there is a default in the settings that ads a space between songs. you can turn it off for the live recordings. i had the same problem with a Green Day live album, changed the setting and reburned the cd. all good.

Of course if you do that you'll only have one long track and can't random or move between tracks. There is no fast forward or reverse on the CD player.

I'm burning mine as data disks, more tunes per CD (about 6-8 albums each) must be encoded MP3, not WMA or iTunes style.

no, not true. it still identifies each song individually, just deletes the space in between. MP3 may be different since as you say, it's a data file instead of a music file.

in itunes, you can specify the space as zero or "x" seconds.

just checked itunes.

it's in the preferences under:
-advanced
-burning
-disk format-audio CD-Gap between songs

you can choose none through 5 seconds

It's an original CD, not one that I burned. It works normally in all my other cars, just the smart it doesn't work like it should.

I'll check, Fast-Track is great for switching between tracks and folders by pushing the volume button while playing a CD. Can't figure out how to fast forward or rewind within a track. I record long radio shows from the net and burn them to data CD (over six hours in one file in most cases). Can't move through the single file on the smart radio 10.
