Orlando is Forcing Window Tinting for Extra Profit!

In a PM from kwagar, who has already picked up his car, I was informed that the Orlando smart dealer is adding window tinting to all of the smarts to the tune of $395.00 in extra profit! How can they do this without our consent?! These are not dealer-ordered cars being purchased off of the lot. These cars were ordered directly by us, with exactly the type of options that we wanted, and are being delivered to dealers based on our zip codes. We have no choice in where our cars are being delivered...but we should have a choice as to whether or not dealer accessories, alterations, etc., are being added!

$795.00 for "doc fee" ...
$395.00 for window tinting ...
$30.50 for something called "miscellaneous fees" ...

That's $1,220.50 in bogus charges!

Lucky me for having to pick up my car in Orlando!

If it were me, I wouldnt take the car. I cant stand tinted windows, and for sure wouldn't want them on my car. Call smart USA ASAP!!

especially when i just had mine tinted for $140. that might be the shadiest car dealer i've ever heard of.

Chill and take a deep breath... the FL folks may not have a choice on the 699..799. dealer fees... but you do not have to pay for the tint...that is a fact... they either take it off or leave it for free... tried, tested, court proven fact...

Now if you are waiting for an orphan... this does not apply... a dealer may prep a car for sale as prepared and the only option you have is to buy it or walk...

But these cars are spec ordered through PAG as your purchasing agent... the dealer is just the selling agent... They are not empowered to add options absent a written order from you.

FL State Attorney general is keen to this crap... Reservations holders that experinace this add on options should/must report to SmartUSA and PAG before agreeing to a slaes contract....

What Fred said! You DID NOT order that crap on YOUR car. YOUR CAR is being shipped to the dealership as you ordered it particularly with specific options. I'd say you got some free window tinting (if you want it) on your car with your assigned vin#. Boy that's a pisser, alright.
