High deposits weed out flaky dreamers, and endless tire kickers. Pure and simple. Only ordered two cars in my life previous to the smart, and both were in the 10% down range.

I received an orphan from the weston, FL dealership. I went in to finally get a look at the car (my reservation was done in August 2007) and signed a call list if an orphan came up (free) and they called me within a week for a Pure. Now I am tooling around in my beautiful Red Pure Smart. YEAAAAA
p.s. Weston has one of the highest dealer charge $600. eek

they only took my name - and when the orphan that i wanted became available, then thy asked me for $500 non-refunable deposit to secure the car. thy did not ask me for money to just **BE** on the list...
