Orphan LoJack Fraud !!!!

As we all are becoming aware, some dealers are adding a list of high profit
acc. to the orphans.

I bought an Orphan from a dealer and was told the orphan fee was $3000.00.
This included tint, colored wheels and LoJack. The car did have tint and colored wheels, but had no visible sign of Lojack. I called Lojack several times to add an address to my Lojack registration, and was told each time the dealer had not called in the VIN. Each time I called the dealer , the sales person, finance person, and service person assured me that Lojack was indeed installed and to not worry about it. Calling back to Lojack, the lojack rep said there should be a Lojack registration card in an envelope which should be in your closing documents. Calling the dealer back again, their response to this was " there is no such card as a registration card.

I then got customer service involved at Lojack and the story ends with
the dealer sending me a check for Lojack that was never installed. I believe this dealer might have "FORGET" to install LOJACK on all its ORPHANs.
This all took place over 2 months of time.

IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED AN ORPHAN IN A STATE THAT STARTS WITH A
"T" AND DID NOT GET A LOJACK REGISTRATION CARD, CALL LOJACK at 1-800-4-LOJACK to see if your VIN is in their system. If your VIN is not in Lojack's system ask to speak with the customer service manager.

My car did not come from the Arizona dealer. The Arizona dealer DOES give REG card and Does install Lojack.

Thanks,....Alan Travis

I requested a LoJack installed in my car. There is a registration certificate LoJack supplies and the VIN must be registered with LoJack. Mine cost $499.

The dealer should be able to visually show you where the LoJack was installed. Mine is in a secret location, but you can see it if you know where to look.

Wow, glad you figured that out - you know, might be best to contact that state's Attorney General, that actually sounds like business practices that need to be investigated if not outright fraud.

Let us wait and see if this same practice has happened to other smart owners.

If there are more cases from the same dealer Lojack will take the ball and run with it. I got permission from Lojack to post this story on the forum.

Thanks,,,Alan Travis

Nobody, not even the dealer is too know where the device is located. You dealer was wrong in providing that information, The installer is given specific instructions NOT to let anyone know where the device is located. Call LoJack if you think this is incorrect and they will tell you the same thing.

I got lojack and I know where mine is and my installer came to my house to install it

That aside hope it's an isolated incident.

Didn't you announce in a previous thread where yours is?

And I invite you to find the thread, and then find my car and show it to me.

Any LoJack can be defeated if the battery is disconnected.

Its secret to all those low life car thieves. The LoJack is not a deterrent, no stickers saying "hands off." Luckily the lock button flashes red when the car is parked. Hopefully that will keep any dim-witted joyrider away from my car.

Hey Alan,

Is there a reason why you didn't tell us the dealer's name? It would help other owners out. Thanks.
