Panel prices quoted

Another thing I heard at the dealer yesterday was the price of replacement panels.

$899 white, black, yellow
$1199 silver, read, blue

The rep didn't seem to know about the non-metallic panels being color-impregnated plastic versus the metallic ones being painted. It would be neat if the metallics contained the color instead of being covered with it.

I wonder what the dealer cost is for actually installing them?

What about when a cop stops you in a red car with registration that says yellow?

with computer links in cruisers contacting the RMV is probably a good idea before you hit the road.

In VA we only have the choice of one color on the registration. My Subaru Outback is arguably two colors - green from the beltline up and "sand" from the beltline down. I registered as green. The 451 has a good bit of tridion visible (not as much as the 450 though). Register the tridion color and change the panels at will (or wrap them at will). Good opportunity to break the cop in on changeable panels.

Saw a topic such as this over at the Canadian Smart site, and many a people were stopped for having the wrong color car. But it was always the cops mistake because MB Canada registered their cars in the Tridion color. Somebody had a green car, and it was registered as black. I think we might have the same problem here, but it looks like we will all have to do the same and educate law enforcement about the car!

so it sounds like $1100-$1200 to change your car color. I am betwixt and between. It still seems a bit pricey. Our dealrship is almost 3 hours away (I wonder if a Mercedes delaerhsip could do this - they are closer). But what a cool gift for my wife (the car was a gift to her) - hey honey, I am going to buy you a BLUE car for your birthday!!!
