Panorama roof (sun screen included)

Im thinking of having the panorama roof (sun screen included) installed on my pure. My Pure was an orphan so i kinda got what it came with nothing more. It has air, cd, power steering, and alram. Truly thats all I need but would like the panorama roof. If I would have ordered it with the car it would have been $350 dollars. Dose anyone know if the dealership charges more for them if you want them afterwards? I know they charge to install them but do they charge more then $350 for the roof? Also is the panorama roof prone to scratches? I am pretty sure its plastic right? So is it easy to scratch when cleaning? One last thing dose the sun screen block out the sun 100% when its closed or dose it have those little holes in it? I do get to keep my solid roof to right?
Thank

im pretty sure it will cost considerably more than the $350. i somehow missed ordering the tach and clock pods when i configured and the dealer wanted $250 for the pods and another $30 for the matching bezels and another approx $200 to install. so I was looking at close to $500 for a $120 option. i ended up just buying the parts and installing them myself.

I'm sure a smarat dealer won't touch a sunroof installation. At this point your only option would be some third party body shop with experience in sunroof installation....it won't be the panoramic roof!

Wow ! So this means, if your roof on either a coupe or Pure is damaged the car is TOTALED because. "SmartCard;62925]I'm sure a smarat dealer won't touch a sunroof installation".

To settle the rediculous answers, all that's necessary is to confirm that there is no part number for the polycarbonate roof (thus it is not available) because; "SmartCard;62925]I'm sure a smarat dealer won't touch a sunroof installation."

I'm waiting to see junkyards all across America with 'Totaled' Smarts in them with only a broken roof.

Boy, when the insurance companies learn of this, "SmartCard;62925]I'm sure a smarat dealer won't touch a sunroof installation." the rates will become impossible.

We all better reserve cabrios.

Get real people; YOU CAN GET A ROOF REPLACED.

An "open-air" sunroof/moonroof installed by an experienced third party would make your Pure unique! (may not be too expensive)

I also want to know if the sun screen blocks all harmful rays.

The sunscreen does have perforations so some light enters.
When I tinted the windows I also had the roof done just to help with the Florida sun.

As I recall, the roofs in our smarts are glued in. Shouldn't be too hard to swap out one piece of plastic for another.

The screen doesn't but polycarbonate roof does:

""Webasto has coated this extremely tough plastic with a special finish on the outside and inside to provide high scratch resistance. Slight tinting ensures that about 60 percent of incoming solar energy and 100 percent of the UV radiation stay outside."

I would think that it could be done, just not for $350. Have you checked with your dealer? Would be interesting to see the quotes.

The roof is just bonded in place and can be replaced like the old glass roof and the windscreen.
