I'm with you cubefx! I love the roof on my passion. It makes me feel like I'm outside when I'm driving, sort of like a protected, more comfortable motorcycle (with just a smidge of imagination). I too wish it at least popped opened across the back about an inch, like a sunroof to let the heat out while parked all day in the sun at work.
I have those thick custom fit sunshades for the psuedo sunroof and that huge front windshield for both my Smart and my MINI cooper. I keep the shade in both roofs all the time in the hot Texas summer and pop open the back of the MC sunroof an inch which does let the built up heat out.
I love the smart, and feel like I've got myself a street legal golf cart (only better of course). Vicki

One reason I ordered a Pure (2 of them) was the solid roof.....and now that the solid roof is a no cost option for '09 on the Passion....seems like I was right!

I have the panoramic roof and due to the hot AZ sun am unable to open it, when it cools down that will be another story.

To all who love their roof DITTO! One of a dozen reasons I made the purchase. It's unique and there are after market screens that work if things get a little hot. It's like being outside; and whats left of my hair stays in place.

I test drove a pure, passion, and cabrio... The cabrio was nice, but I need the extra space in the back.... The pure was darker inside and felt too small for me (I stand 6'2") so I really liked the Passion. I will likely just get the shade to install mentioned above. I like the sun too. In such a small car it makes most sense. At least for me.

For me the panoramic roof was a great selling point. Finding a new car with the moon/sunroof option in this price range was almost impossible.

Question to all owners who have a solid roof . Is the interior of the solid roof covered with any fabric ??

I have the solid roof on my Pure and i am glad i have it. I was never that impressed with the panoramic roof simply for the fact it does not open like a sunroof to let in the breeze, and I think they really let in the sun so much that they make the car hot. I know that it has a sunshade, but i understand there are issues with the sunshade. As far as the question of what the roof is covered with it has a felt like material.

Just be glad the panoramic roof is plastic, because on the old 450 model it was glass. Go over a bump to hard too many times and POP!

We have the panormainc roof, but the one we had on holiday was solid and all the better for it in the hot weather. Personal opinion really. I alsways have the blind closed so I'd happily live with out it
