Passenger Seat Heat Not Working

Yesterday, for the first time since I got my car last April, I turned the heat on the heat on the passenger seat. The light flashed on for a few seconds and then went off - and there was no heat. The manual says if this happens there's a malfunction and I should take it to the dealer. My dealer is several hundred miles away and would probably mean at least an overnight trip and I'd really like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone have any idea about connections, fuses, wiring, etc., that I could check without taking it in? TIA - sheureka

There are several separate connections under each seat. Don't know which is which, but make sure they are all well connected. Flashlight time.
Check fuses too.
Good Luck...

Did you check Evilution's site? See under "Maintenance", "DIY/FAQs" stickie. It's the last link. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Since Evilution updated his site, I haven't been able to find anything. Can you give me a direct link? I don't see anything saying "Maintenance", "DIY/FQAs", etc., and searching "heated seat" only tells me how to remove the seat. TIA - sheureka

Same here: couldn't find what you're looking for on Evilution. Even the technical manual available on line is not specific enough to help you.

Seat heaters
The seat heater special equipment in model 451
consists of two heating elements which are installed in
the seat bolster and backrest cushion of each seat.
The seat heaters are activated separately for each
side via the switch panel in the center console.
Pressing the seat heater switch for the driver or
passenger side switches on the seat heater at stage 2.
Another press of the switch switches the seat heater
to stage 1. If the switch is pressed a third time, the
seat heater is switched off. The different stages are
indicated in the relevant switch by the lighting of one
LED for stage 1 and two LEDs for stage 2.
The heated seats control unit incorporates a temper
ature sensor that measures the ambient temperature.
The heating elements in the driver and passenger
seats follow a temperature profile based on this
temperature. The heater output is constantly moni
tored to check the seat temperature.
Function
Function requirements:
• Switch circuit 15 ON
When the seat heater switch for the driver or
passenger seat is pressed, a request signal is sent
directly to the heated seats control unit. In the heated
seats control unit the request for activation of the
seat heater is processed with the function require
ment.
The function requirement is transmitted by the igni
tion/starter switch straight to the SAM control unit,
from where it is forwarded to the heated seats control
unit.
If all the criteria for activation are satisfied, the
appropriate seat heater is switched on by the heated
seats control unit over a direct line.
Remains the Dealership, I suppose, next time you're there for service? Sorry.
