Cabrio's definitely the way to go. I'd rather have the choice of lowering the top when I want; can't do that with a coupe.

One thing to consider is the replacement cost for the top every ~5 years~ depending on the weather. You will get extra noise with a soft top and it will only get worse as the top ages. In the end...soft tops are fun...if you can afford it and dont mind the negatives...go for it.

I don't know how the polycarbonate roof will hold up over time, but replacement cost for the clear roof would also need to be factored in to the extent it gets scratched up or cloudy enough to require replacement. I suspect replacing that roof will be as costly or more costly than replacing the fabric top. Plus wear and tear on the cabrio roof can be mitigated to a high degree by using a good quality car cover, which has co-benefits in terms of reducing interior surface fading and reducing air conditioner loading (and by extension, engine wear).

it depends....

if you can afford the extra expense and give up a more practical/bigger storage space as well as deal with extra road noise associated with a soft top and the look of it doesn't bother you, then yes, get a cabrio. However, if you want to live a more practical existance or realize that getting a cabrio for use may-september hardly justifies the cost...then get a coupe

Yeah now that i think about it, i would rather have a tricked out coupe than a standard cabrio. and the sunroof is retractable right? if its not, then i prolly wouldnt like it as much. when i was at the dealer i never tried that so idk

Man, if I could have had a convertible when I was your age, I'd have never bought anything else! This is my first and I love it! The hard top is a moonroof, it doesn't open up completely. The cab can open a little or a lot and there isn't any better feeling than the sun on your head and the wind in your hair.

yup.... hard top is hard and doesn't move. alternatively you can get it with a solid metal roof (instead of panoramic) and have an aftermarket sunroof installed, but at that rate you're looking at about $1500 to get that done. now that i think about it, why doesn't smart let us get optional sunroof on pure or passion w/ solid roof? that is good middle ground (price/benefit) between a non-moving roof and a full blown cabrio.

passion coupe! Take advice from a fellow 15 year old, don't get a cabrio unless if you could afford it! (mininum wage for 15 year olds)
