The cabrio weighs more than the coupe (reinforcements in the A pillar to pick up slack from lack of permanent roof side bars)... I believe the additional weight is 20-40pounds, correct me if I'm wrong. You won't notice a decrease in MPG until the cabrio roof in down. I got about 38-40mpg on my last tank.
I never go by their estimates. If you watch their video on how they do their tests, it is a joke. It no way simulates the total sinario. IE they don't have a major wind tunnel going with a tailgate up and down senario, just as top up or top down. Better numbers come from ppl on here that can put out results.
Understand what you're saying - that's why they're called estimates. Since the EPA tests, screwed up or not, are the same for all tested cars, the numbers can be used as a relative comparison of expected fuel economy. Which is what they are intended for.
I would think there would be slight drag from the roof being canvas instead of the slick plastic of the coupe, no? Anyway, I get between 38 and 41 also, driving manually, mixed city/hwy but mostly city.
I must have a lead foot in my cab. Everybody talks about getting in the high 30's MPG...I drive nothing but city, roof up or down, and get the posted low 30's. What's up with that? lol
