Penske wanting more Smarts? Where did I hear this?

I know that I have read about this somewhere but I can't find it anywhere. It said that since the Smart is selling so well that Roger Penske is begging Smart to increase there production. I hope this is true. Maybe more dealerships are in the plan. Anyone else hear about this?

I've read that too, and I believe it, D. Schembri did ask for more deliveries while in Europe recently. But Smartville-Europôle cannot (for Daimler's long term managerial reasons) produce more at this time.

Yes, but I was reading that Mercedes nad smart sales have slipped 5% in Western Europe this year. Maybe they can re-direct that 5% to the US? Here is the link:

Yes, but... the article on the link states specifically that:
«Deliveries of the Smart jumped 34 percent to a record 13,300 in June, helped by the car's mid-January introduction in the U.S.»
There is also a higher demand than delivery in Europe, especially in Italy. So, I think we're stuck with 'patience for passion'...

no, don't bring more, I'd rather not have the Smart turn into the PT Cruiser. I think they should keep them trickling in keeping demand and hype up. It's working for Nintendo's Wii.

Toyota,Nissan,Honda, well just about every car company will be offering a Smart type car that my guess will get 50+mpg. Smart is not going to be the new kid on the block for much longer.

Other car companies will only be able to offer what will pass US safety and emissions standards. If they had 'em they would be here. All the high priced talent at these companies got caught yet again flat-footed. Want lower oil product prices? DEMAND that your government kick speculators and investors OUT of futures trading. That is why "supply and demand" no longer works.
