I picked up my 2008 Passion, today, from Smart Center Smithtown. It's Black with silver tridion and red interior. I got the alarm and the gauges as my only additional options.

The "configure your smart now" email was sent to me on April 21st at 5:35 PM
The car was assembled sometime in July, put on the Elektra vessell on Aug 7th and I picked it up today (technically yesterday), August 23rd.
The most surprising thing about the Smart is how its pretty much like a normal car. I find no situation where I wouldn't want to take it somewhere based on its speed, size, or safety. I spent a good deal of time today on the interstate and I actually forgot I was in a small car several times, until I went to change lanes, and realized I was using the rear window to check my blind-spots! (in addition to the side).
It drives very well, has plenty of pep and is completely usable every day. Overall, I'm very impressed, much more so than I thought I would be.
In one day of ownership, I've already had an extended conversation with a guy in the target parking lot, a car almost merged into me because they were looking at the smart, and about 30 teenage girls went crazy when I pulled up to a light adjacent to the dunkin doughnuts where they were hanging out.
Smart Center of Smithtown, by the way, was wonderful. I worked with Vincent DiRenzo, and it was always a pleasure. It took all of 30 minutes to pick up the car. On a saturday too, which was very nice of them.
I've only taken one picture so far, definitely more to come...
Had a good laugh getting back to the car after running some errands.

ordered June 07 config'd Feb 08 and still waiting. I can't beleive your wait time was so short. Over 1 year 2+ months and counting.
