I know that you've probably worked hard to get to where you are and no doubt deserve the lifestyle you have. I'm not going to judge you for that. But, I do have to say, looking at the current generations compared to mine and the amount of plain material crap they have is not producing the next great generation. I've interviewed kids in the past 5 years coming out of college whose parents have tried to give them everything they didn't have growing up and most of them don't truly want to work hard and believe they are "due" promotions and raises without earning them.
These kids have grown up with parents that are equating giving material possessions with giving love. The hardest working, most well adjusted among us are those that grew up modestly, in loving homes, and with a strong work ethic. I have friends that grew up very similarly to me (in terms of possessions) that came from "Old Money" where they didn't have everything handed to them and they are some of the best most genuine people on the planet and work exceptionally hard.
There's also the impact on thier health of learning to take a car/golf cart everywhere. I grew up walking, riding a skateboard, or riding a bike to get around the neighborhood. Many kids today are overweight due to motorized advances and being sedentary in front of the TV. Anything we as parents and as society can do to encourage physical activity would be in order here.
Again, not saying that you're doing anything intrisically wrong but I've seen the shift in the kids coming into the work force and it doesn't bode well for us. I have to draw the conclusion that its the spoiling that has occured in recent years that is causing it and I have hired very few entry level people because of it.
Can we hear an Amen.
(And I don't feel a bit sorry for Dave, who just didn't see this coming. The original post was provocative: 11-13 year olds driving smart cars, with some sort of governor, around a gated community. Itself, a veritable can of worms.)
One worm: Dave, have you checked with the "private" parties that shield your 11-13 year old kids from having to be licenced in your state to drive a smart on "privte property?" Assuming there is a Homeowners' Association, have you run this by the board? Are they aware of this possible new liability?
Another worm: Ever heard of 'risk management?' "Known, or should have known?' Did it occur to you that the reason there were not many speed "governors" to be found is that there are not many speed governors to be found?
An extremely provocative post, sir. Posing many questions and eliciting many thoughtful responses.
Cute. Can the admins tell me if it is possible to block users on this forum, and if so how it is done? I have better things to do than read others personal opinion's.

"I have better things to do than read others personal opinion's." Like research possessives and plurals?
I'm a paid member, and not that that has anything to do with anything, I have every right to post as you, sir. You want to censor me? Good luck.
I actually own a smart car. I drive it every day, on roads and highways, paying all the bills and complying with all the rules, regs, and laws for that privilege. You waltz into a smart car forum asking about how to turn the smart car into a toy for your kids because your're rich. Sorry, you opened the door. Never know who's going to walk in...
You have better things to do than read responses?
Good. Do them. By the way, you find a 'governor' yet?
Best of luck.

Are you trying to turn this into a class warfare thing? IMO, dave asked a legitimate question.
And to turn your worm back at you - yes, governors are available. Just not the traditionally thought of kind like you'd find on a go-kart or similar contraption.

User CP>Edit Ignore List
And since, as the OP, you ignore subsequent posts, it's a sure sign that the thread didn't achieve its original aim. Therefor, no reason to keep it alive.
