I own a yellow one, and have seen some powder coated wheels. I was wondeing if I should do it, and what color would be the best!! Plz give me some feed back!! p1nball
Hello p1nball - I just joined SCOA yesterday, however, I did post some pictures of my new baby in the Gallery. I have a silver and black with black powder coated black rims.
I was fortunate as the rims came that way from the dealer, however, I have been a big fan of powder coating for many years. If done properly you can't even chip the coating off with a hammer.... very tough.
When I first received the car, I was not really happy with the rims, but since it was a package deal I didn't have much choice. I had orginally thought I could perhaps find someone to trade with, however, I've now gotten use to them and actually rather like the look.
Anyway... hope you'll find this helpful. Good Luck!
sgt major, I just saw your pic in the gallery and had to double take it... looked like mine for a second. ;) Anyways I love my powdercoated wheels and they are much easier to clean as well.

It can be done; we have a small chip in the leading edge of the Tridion near the windshield. No idea how it happened but apparently that powder coating can be chipped.
Thanks, sgt major, and all, the pix's are great I will find some vender here to the black powder coat the wheels!! Your car sold me on it!! Great look!! p1nball
FWIW; the stock aluminum rims are powder coated - silver. I am having mine done in white and have them at a powder coater - where they have been for weeks. First he had to find a place that could chemically strip them - $120. Then he coated and baked and called to say ready. I took them home wrapped and found that the area next to the rim where the spokes join were not coated enough, so back they went, where they still are. And P.S. I have dealt with production powder coated parts for years and years and YES they still chip and even peel if the substrate isn't clean.

Black Powder coat looks really nice when you have the tridion in black.

If you ever change your mind let me know, I've been wanting the black since I saw them and I'm currently looking for a powder coater

Hey Russ. How about some pics when you get them. I'd be real interested in "white" wheels ! I haven't even configured yet, BUT I plan on white/black/black and I think white wheels with black painted calipers and drums would look awesome .
