What that does not mean is that the smarts, while in high demand to supply, will sell for LESS than MSRP, which is typical for almost every other car out there.
We, of course, don't want to pay MORE than MSRP (other than the taxes, destination and doc fees). Roger Penske has said on many occasions that the smart dealers (owned by Penske or not) will not be allowed (somehow) to sell above MRSP. No Additional Markup, no Demand Pricing, no added dealer profit.
We've seen that with the gray G+K/ZAP 450 cars selling for upwards of $27,000, with about $5000 going to the greedy dealers. It happened in the past with the PT Cruiser, the Miata and even the Pontiac Fiero. Penske is going to make things different this time. Thank you Roger.
