Problems getting to Reverse

Hello from Portand.

I have had my Passion for about 2000 miles (1 month) and from the first day I had some problems getting it into Reverse from Park. I found that if I go all the way to Drive, then back to Reverse it usually works.

I asked my dealer about it and he said the poblem should go away after about 500 miles. He said it had something to do with the cable.

Well the problem hasn't gone away. It doesn't prevent me from driving but is annoying.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Other then that small problem I love my Smart car. I have been getting about 42 mpg, and that's on country roads mostly on my 35 mile one way commute to work.

My daughter drives it also and she claims to have gotten about 48 mpg, but I'm not sure she knows how to divide correctly.

I was hope to get 50+ mpg. They should look into some other engine options. Freedom motors as some excellent motors that may do better, and they have very low emmissions.
