With the mirror cable I just got a flat head to lift up the tab and a pair of pliers to pull out the plug. I think that's what you're talking about anyways.

Good luck on the other one

Removed door from passenger side and replaced speaker. Here is my problem, I can't get the panel back on.
1)Do I place bottom on first then click in top portion which is not working out very well or do I hang top in first? Neither way seems to work for me.
2)Is there a 3rd way that I may have missed?
3) Is the window up or down?
4)Is there someone needed that can hold door open while this is done?
)Is the top rubber strip removed and then replaced later after door is in position.
I also placed dampening material inside the panel that might influence bending.
I also cursed a lot. Help please....

Leave the window down, have a friend hold the door steady (it helps)

If you are facing the Smart with the car pointing left take your door panel and place the right side on first (make sure the panel can slide under the door handle [loosen the handle if necessary]) Then slide it to the left with the right side on. Now take the left side and slide it upward to follow the track and eventually snap in the bottom LEFT side. See the eviloution site for pictures on door removal/installation for more info/pictures.

For me, I needed to rotate the panel to find the EXACT place it was closest at the lower portion of the front edge of the door and then pry the plastic over the frame.
It hurt my fingers some to do it but starting low, twist the plastic over the frame up toward the top.
There were times it looked impossible but pushing the panel forward on the frame and raising and lowering it to just the right point made it finally fit close enough to pry it around.
I hope I was doing it wrong and there's a better way???

Thanks for tip. Tomorrow I will try again.
Every one that switched to new speakers can attest that the original speakers look like they sound.
