Question for other Blizzak owners

I had the Blizaks from Tirerack (145/65R15 and 175/55R15) installed this evening at NTB. They said both front wheels took alot of weight to balance them. Has anyone else had that to their knowlege? Drove it up to 60mph and all seems well. Car seems to ride a little more firmly (if thats possible!) I'll check the pressures in the morning

parayboy, I'm running the same size Blizzak's as you on the rear of my 05 Pulse and they were installed in September 08. There was no mention of excessive weights required to balance them on the stock alloys. They seem to be performing as prescribed (read I haven't been stuck yet).

I mounted same tires on Pure steel wheels with TPS sensors installed and noticed all the valance weights where opposite to the valve stem-sensor side. The sensor + a need to valance a tire combined together could add up to quite a bit of lead weight.

One of my front wheels needed noticeably more weight that the other even with no visible runout in the wheel. No runout… no worry

This is purely coincidental. No tire from the factory requires the same amount of weights. Everyone is different. When tires are 'born', they are molded so there are heavy spots in some areas and light spots in others. That's why even new tires needs to be balanced. The same can be said with wheels as well.

Nope, not a bad idea. I thought it was driving a little different but now after 30 or so miles, its fine. The car rides fine and no shimmy or shakes. Blizzaks do seem to be a little louder but I guess thats the rubber compound. We're supposed to get some snow tomorrow followed by 12-14 hours of freezing rain/sleet. I'll try to take a spin in the snow before I park it for the ice storm. I'll let ya know tomorrow
