Questions from a newbie

Hey everyone, over Tday weekend we made a reservation and I have some questions that you all may know answers to.

How do I know my reservation number like some of you have in your avitar/signature?

Will there be cars to test drive at dealers?

Will I have to order before I test drive?

Is there a tenative timeline for delivery per reservation numbers?

What part of Ohio? You should have/get an e-mail from smart usa with the reservation number.

The other questions are all discussed on the forum here and are all subject to our guesses on how all of this will play out. Since you reserved rather late, your dealer may have a demo car or two. Delivery of cars to owners is supposed to be in order of reservation numbers; your car is a long way off based on how things are anticipated to go.

Thanks....and I understand that I am a long way off...I just dont understand what "a long way off" translates to into weeks...months...years?

I did get an email but the reservation # is much longer than your 4 digit reservation number...is it just the last 4?

I am located in Akron, Ohio and I drive a New MINI....Nice Classic...what year is it?

Yes, it's the last four. Somewhere on here is a thread about converting your res # to a date; I'm sure someone will chime in.

The Mini is a '76, updated with a 1275 Spi engine, disc brakes, etc. Lots of fun!

OK here goes, 1173 is the first date of reservation = March 19,2007. Subtract 1173 from you last 4 digits. That is the # of days you are behind in reserving. The other #s reading backwards is a time stamp.
1254901183. March 29, 9:45.21 am west coast time. The place of reservations is in Los Angeles.
In terms of Confirming your order, placing color and options to actually build a car will follow. PAG is sending out confirmation requests once a week. We are seeing approx 4 days of reservation getting a confirmation. We are now up to 1200. Confirmation pace will pick up if PAG is even to hit 24k in one year. I hope this helps Welcome aboard

I'll skip some of the answered questions with some opinions of my own. ;)

Will there be cars to test drive at dealers? Yes. They may not be there right on January 1st, but yes.

Will I have to order before I test drive? No. Since both of us are stuck waiting for a while, we'll have plenty of time to take a run around (or several) on a dealer's car.

Is there a tenative timeline for delivery per reservation numbers? I'd like mine tomorrow, thanks. OK, I won't be greedy; next Monday is perfectly acceptable. OK, the reality is that we're going to have to wait, a lot. At least those of us who didn't know about the smarts coming in until late, or had to think about it for a while. I have a feeling that we're going to have to deal with a whole lot of smugness when the 1200's get their cars.

Newdl, Hi I'm in the cleveland area and know for a fact that Mercedes of Bedford will handle Northeast Ohio. It's on Broadway in Bedford Hts. My last four digits of the reservation number are 1197. Got my email to config/confirm Monday 26 Nov. It will be a while for you but don't despair. Also I reserved 12 April.
