Questions for owners

I have a few questions that I forgot to ask or look for when I had my first demo drive last week.

1. Where is the battery??? I was so busy looking at all the cutsie things, I forgot to note where the battery was located!

2. When you park and turn off the car with your headlights or parking lights on... does the car automatically shut them off or sound an alarm? (not referring to auto-off optioned cars). I am famous for forgetting to turn off the parking lights on my Miata and it doesn't even give a warning toot!

3. How "necessary" is the power steering option. I'm a little lady and I've driven cars without ps... even a Geo Metro with manual steering and that bugger was, for me, an exercise in upper body strength to park. Is the Smart with ps much easier than without... or is the difference negligible since the weight up front is so light?

Thank y'all kindly!

At the passenger's feet.

A (somewhat faint) alarm does sound.

3. How "necessary" is the power steering option.
Only assists when parking in a tight space... which is an advantage of the smart! Maybe you can try both, at a crawling speed?...

By the time I posted, two more did add theirs.. Consensus!

FWIW, a friend who restores and resells cars got power steering on his because he has found that, in general, it increases resale value. (I have it and like it.)

I Might be wrong on this, but I understood that with the "Comfort Package" option it included an automatic headlight function similar to other cars (where they come on automatically and go off on delay). Mine just sounds the alarm, I did not want the package because it included the heated seats and leather upholstery also.
