Radar Cross Section

Had anyone put a radar gun on a smart ans seen what the cross section is compared to a conventional car?

Depending on where you live, radar guns are the thing of the past because of their consistent unreliability. Most highway patrol/cops in big urban areas, suburbs, and major highways now uses laser guns exclusively. The only one that still uses radar guns are small towns with small budgets.

From riding a motorcycle, I can tell you that they can still nail you with the laser. So the smart is pretty much the same.

Correct. Aim at the license plate and ZAP....you're done. One trick I've learned to prevent some of this is to spray it with clear coat paint. You can buy this at Target/Walmart for a few dollars.

Not that we have anything to worry about. The Smart is not a Corvette.

FYI... Well financed local police departments (they always have new cars, SWAT teams, good training facilities, etc) here still use radar guns. Some have laser speed guns but most seem to have radar. The State Patrol seems to be the only exclusive laser department around here.
