Radio always comes on...HELP - Smart Car of America Forums : Smart Car Forum

Whenever I start up the smart, the radio comes on. Even if it was off when I turned the car off, it comes back on. I looked in the manual and radio manual and it didn't say anything about it. It did say that if it was on when the key was turned off that it would come on when the car is started, but it comes on all the time. Is this normal? Can it be set to not come back on? Thanks

If you have a radio 9, it is a known problem, call your dealer

It's a radio 9. Is it a defect in the radio? Will the dealer fix it?

When I picked up my car last weekend, my Brand Specialist warned me about this issue. It came with Radio 9, but you know what? It didn't happen with mine! Ironically, my car is having a new radio installed right now... I'm pretty sure the new one I'm installing won't have this problem.

Nope, not a dealer replacement... I went to my local Al & Ed's, got an Alpine. I have a lot of reading up to do on it, didn't even listen to radio on the way home. Tested the iPod connection instead.
