Yesterday we were driving Ant Bee in the rain with the shade for the moon roof open. It's a bit distracting watching the water float by overhead, gives a feeling of being submerged. But fun.
MichaelJ, I have had some great rain rides on motorcycles. Modern raingear keeps me quite dry; and I love the looks I get from people inside cars.
Looking forward to acquiring my "new" 1994 BMW K75RT ABS this week. Not wishing for a rain ride home but it wouldn't bother me.

I put rain-x on the windshield and also on the polycarbonate roof. The water just races overhead. My smart did just fine in the rain. Thats what I get for washing it I guess.

If your question about driving in the rain is more the auto functions? that's one thing.
If it's about the smart handling? it's a total other.

If you think you see a puddle. SLOW DOWN. this vehicle doesn't slide like others. you can't simply catch it. when it starts sliding it usually goes into a spinn. that's how my little brother wrecked my diesel smart in germany. he drove under speedlimit (50kmh in a 55kmh zone)in a construction section of the autobahn and went hydro.
a year ago he rolled it 3 times on a wet road in a long right turn. entering the autobahn.

And trust me. he knows the car and was not flooring it.

All i'm saying is when it's wet use EXTREM caution.

and if anybody wants to know. it was on stock Pulse wheels. On wider tires it's worse.

No weight + very short wheel base! ouch.

But mine is getting 7,5-8,5x17 and I will settle for no other car. period!

Drive safe

Do you have the auto wipers? if so how do they work with the rain X.

I've had problems with Rain-X in the past attacking some wiper blade compounds. In short order the blade edges would soften and smear, and there would be black gooey lines built up at the far end of the blade travel. It does work well on side windows and mirrors though, as does Fog-X on the inside of side windows.

I have rain-X on my windshield and no problems. Rain-X is a staple in the gray northwest. One of the first things my co-workers told me about when I moved here.
