Rally Red

I just got an ivite to reconfig. As we know the old red has been discontinued. Because I had decided on the old red I now have a choice. Has anybody seen the new red? If so how does it look? red? My understanding is the old red was like orange red. How does the new red compare?

Thanks!

I would suspect no one around here has seen the new red as none have been built or shipped. The new red will definitely be less orange - and not metallic. Beyond that - its anyone's guess!

Best comparison I can make. . . the "old" metallic red is a 'tomato' red. I think the newer "rally red" will be more like "cherry' red, i.e. redder with less orange tones.

I have a red/black/red that I was'nt exactly thrilled with, but it grows on you . . . you won't lose it in a crowd - unless it's behind a Hummer~!

smart fortwo color selector

It's on the smart USA site. It's a bright red rather than the orange tinted red.

The new red has NOT landed here yet! I contacted the dealer to inquire. No one has "seen" it here. You can NOT tell the "real" color from the configurator. We'll just have to wait; smarties are great waiters

Color balance, monitor calibration... difficult to describe how red is red. IMHO, the new red is like this site's bars, whereas the old red is more like the arrow in the SCoA logo that members have in their profile box. Make sense?

Maybe its just me, but the old Smart color selector looked very "red" as well, but the finished product had the orange shade that we've come to know (and love?).
Someone somewhere said that the orange hue came from the use of a bronze metallic flake instead of the customary silver.
In subdued lighting, my red Passion looks much more red than the orange-red seen in moderate to bright light.
Perhaps for 2009 they just re-formulated the same color without the metallic fill.
I, probably like many others, did expect a "redder" red, but I love my car anyway!

so if the "new red that's like this site's bars" and the "old red is more like the arrow in the SCoA logo" is correct, is that like on YOUR computer monitor or MY monitor?
