Ratttling Sound in engine area

Has anyone experienced a rattiling sound that comes from under the back engine area. It only happens for a few seconds under acceleration and in all gears, when you let up on the gas it stops. It will not make this sound if you rev in neutral. I think it is from under the car. It sounds like a heat shield may be loose although everything I checked under the car seems okay. Others have mentioned hearing this too. Just trying to find a solution.

This and other threads regarding the mysterious "rattle" noise should be combined into one sticky! This seems to be an issue with many units. I definitely had it in mine. In some cases it sounds like the passenger side and other times it sounds like from the underside. It does not have any connection with engine revs at standstill, yet happens at speed and crosswinds.

Or people posting could stick to a single thread...

Seriously, how many times does the same issue get posted on multiple threads? Plus, combining threads sorts every post by date and time, mixing them up and cutting off various questions and replies. Sometimes more confusing than leaving the separate threads.

Try operating the emergency brake a few times to see if that is it. Mine was the linkage jingling. After I operated mine a few times, it stopped.

Got this on my UK car and solved it with some double sided sticky foam meant to hold number plates on behind the tabs on the black plastic panels between the rear window and the side windows. It drove me nuts at first and worked out what it was. If you have a look, there are black plastic tabs that stick out of it, that touch bare metal! Under acceleration it rattles!
