RE: Configuring - I would like to know

I think I asked this in the mid of another thread, so I apologize for asking again, this forum presents great opportunity for redundancy....(plus I couldn't find it)

I would like to know from those who either received a car or gotten a call from the dealer that your call was in.....

Did you get a second call AFTER the configuration confirmation asking if you wanted to make any changes?

I spoke with Ryan and Jammie of smart and they both told me that I would get a second call so if I wanted to make any changes, I could still do it.

I do want to add the tach and I'm not sure if I really need the power steering.

Thanks all.

Beth

No calls

Things may have changed but I didn't get any calls from anyone after configuring. I think you have a week to work the configurator website with your password; after that your configuration is locked in. smart usa may be able to make changes after that but it will push your production date back I believe.

I think the tach and clock can be installed later by the dealer, or you can buy them and DIY. Supposedly plug and play.

I know that people installed them aftermarket on the old model in Canada so I'm sure that it'll be doable for the new version as well.

there is no phone call in any part of the process. you get an e-mail telling you to configure. if you don't do it quickly, they send a follow-up to remind you to get it done. once it's done, you may be able to change it but they tell you that any changes will delay your car.

The only second calls I heard about related to Air conditioning in hot climate areas...

Beth I think the PS is a lot more sophisticated system then some here are thinking... won't hurt to have it... as John said above---You can add the Rev and Clock any time after possesion or have your dealer install it prior to pickup...( if they have enough in stock...seems a lot of folks passed at copnfig time and now want)

How about the old California 500 in Ontario?

I took delivery today. No phone calls back in September, it may have changed since. Wish it had since I made a couple of mistakes that cannot be fixed once its finalized.

i forgot to add the tach/clock, you can buy one for about $250 as a dealer installed option. No you cannot add the alarm or fogs later. The alarm is cheap, get it, I didn't (drat) but got a LoJack for $500.

I got power steering with the leather for $895. You really only feel the PS when stopped and turning the wheel for parking. Its an electric assist, not the hydraulic system in your Father's Oldsmobile. I don't feel it on the road, but do while parking. Not really needed, but not bad to have.
