rear storage area

Wenever I go to take things out of the rear storage area, I notice a smell, an engine smell.

Today I went grocery shopping. I realized that I'm storing my groceries on top of the engine during the ride home. Fortunately the frozen orange juice & the ice cream didn't melt.

No point to this comment. I'm just saying . . .

Check to make sure the engine cover is sealed and latched properly, it can be difficult.

How new is the smart?

If its fairly new, then you will notice a smell right after or during a drive. Its a protestant that is sprayed on the engine and other things to keep the salt air from it. And they dont put a certain amount on either. Its just kind of sprayed on so some people have had the smell 4k later.

As far as the heat, I feel it too, but I hear it dosnt get bad.

Thanks. I'm practically brand new - although you wouldn't know it from all of the snow, sludh, & sand that's gotten on it. All of the cars are filthy around here right now. Purchase was 3 1/2 weeks ago & I'm just under 1000 miles.

BTW, we've got a visit to the car wash scheduled for tomorrow. The Red Menace is very happy about that!

I wasted enough money at the auto car washes. And thats all we have here, that and auto washes with people that wipe it down! Doing it by hand now. Cost me $3 and I will wax it when I get back home.

You will be fine! Ads to the new smart smell!

Bought a foil type windshield shade and cut to fit underneath carpet pad over engine. Killed all heat from it. Make sure engine cover is closed fully and be very carefull of retainer as you can pull it off the cover easy.

Are you sure it's not a sprayed Catholic?

You should never disturb a Catholic while spraying.

Oops, probably broke the forum rules with that one...

To bring it back somewhat on topic, people used to cook food in the engine compartment or with actual engine exhaust in the old days:

Many current webpages extol the virtues of manifold cooking:

So what's there to worry about with a little engine smell on your food?
