I have a 2008 Passion, black on black with black. that may have the delam problem. When I washed it today, I reached inside and wiped the plastic roof, rt side near the front, and the roof lifted. Seems to be loose for about 8 inches. I had heard about this problem about a year ago from a guy in the local DMV. Anyone have actual knowledge of this problem? When I asked the dealer about this some months ago, he said that he had not heard of this issue.

You're reviving an old thread about a problem that most certainly doesn't affect you (because Smart went to lengths to notify the affected owners) yet you don't appear to have followed the thread currently talking about roofs getting unglued:

roof coming unglued

It appears to have happened to several people and a probable root cause of the problem during manufacture is mentioned; nothing to do with the issue at the heart of this recall.

Perhaps you need a lube to your shifter?

Sorry, I am 63 years old and a total Ludite. I thought I was following the right path but I don't understand how this all works. The guy who was helping to guide me through this electronic quagmire has gone on and I am left to fend for myself. I do know that I have a problem and I am looking for help.

Thanks for that. I had asked about lube and was told that, no,the shifrt was toast and had to go. As I was paying full tilt I asked for the parts back. Took 2 trips back but I got them. Took it apart and yes, a little lube would have done it. Not pleased. Now this roof busness that is going to come out of my pocket at 125 per hr.
