Right From The DEALER!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a string of e-mails with the Smart Car Dealer in Denver.
I don't know about you, but i thought the point of reserving your Smart Car early was to get it when they first came out?

Hi Mike,

I would not rely on the last 4 system to determine your spot in line. I have some 1195s that have cars here already, and some 1173s that still don't have visibility. I was told by a smart USA representative that the number is random; however, it sure has been fun reading about the method to the madness behind the reservation number!

Thank you for your response. I was under the impression that the reservation numbers were not random at all. I thought the last four digits starting with 1173 for first day reservations and go forward from there. It's all over the web so I thought this might be true. The formula on the Internet matches my reservation number exactly. If for some reason the first people that you called reservation nubers end with 1173 and then go forward, could you tell me what number that you are on? Thank you again for your patience/answers.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your message. Reservation holders who will be receiving their cars in the first shipment have already been contacted. The reservation numbers are random so there is not a range that determines which holders will be receiving their vehicles. As the dealership is not opening to mid-February, we have limited visibility to the number of vehicles on the first shipment. Sorry these are not the answers you are looking for, but we should have more info as the opening date gets closer. Thanks for your patience.

Good morning!

Any news on how many cars that you will be getting in the first
shipment? Do you know which reservation nubers you will get through on
the first shipment (1173 to?)? We are all very excited to see the
progress of the dealership! Almost there! Thank you in advance for any
answer you might have.

Thanks,

Mike

that's all a bunch of BS and you certainly have the right to ask deeper questions. my dealer confirmed that the numbering system is what is reported on this and other boards. whoever you are talking to is clearly uninformed. it's not random, that's hogwash. i would pass him up and go to SmartUSA. you'll have to get past the receptionist as she doesn't know jack. if you really did order your car on the first day (1173) and have not heard anything, there is something going on somewhere.

I am not an 1173 but i am willing to wait my turn(1182). Which shouldn't be terribly long but it was disturbing to see these responses from a dealer!

Instead of talking to them by registration number, just talk to them by registration DATE. We all know when we reserved your car. The problem in Denver seems to be the same as in New York, dealers aren't open and they're waiting for that to happen before sending the cars out.
