Rising gas prices hit drivers nationwide

Gas prices in 50 day surge - Jun. 17, 2009

Notice "Smart Car" leads list of Fuel Efficient Cars - (in middle column of this page!).

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Gas prices have risen for 50 days in a row and the pain at the pump is taking a toll on household budgets across the nation.

Nationwide, gas prices now average $2.679, motorist group AAA said Wednesday. Prices have risen every day since April 29, when the national average stood at $2.05 a gallon. . . . .The price of oil has more than doubled since late December, climbing from a low of $33.87 a barrel to more than $70 recently. Meanwhile, gas prices have followed a similar trajectory, jumping more than $1 a gallon over the same time period.

Hope we see $4, $5, $6 gas (not really); then we will be the only ones on the road

Seriously. You don't see Honda Car or Toyota Car on the list, so why is it so difficult for for people to learn "Fortwo"?

MINI only offers the Cooper (in various configurations), but no one calls it a MINI Car.

Perhaps they think of it as the model and not the make?

If gas prices does go up to $5 per gallon, I think the Fortwo will not be the only one on the road. I think there will be other similar size vehicles; ie, VW Chico, Toyota iQ, Fiat 500, etc. The road will be safer with the or for the little cars since they are the only ones on it (won't have to worry about suvs).

Tell people over and over and over again. Gas is going to rise over $3 before the end of the year. Then it may decline and go up again. Eventuly when more gas efficient cars and hybrids hit the road I believe gas companies then will offset their prices to be like $4 or $5 so they can still make about the same as what they can make now since majority of more people will refuel less.
