Phtttttttttttt! I'll take my Kroger Card discount of up to 30 cents off a gallon any day - over skimpy clad women.

(Would reconsider a Chippendale male, . . . hum.)

It's viewed as more of a safety liability for the station versus having a "trained" individual pumping the gas.

Having pumped gas for a living in NJ, I can safely say that there are more morons per square mile there than any other state. After all, it is the densest-population-per-sq.-mile in the country. Back in the good ol' days, I can't count the times some idiot would pull in with a lit cigarette or cigar, and start to pump their own gas. Or the folks that drive off with the nozzle still in the tank.
Yep, liability and safety...

Let's be nice.....

I used to snub my noses at people last year when we had $4/gal because I drove my Smart and worked from home, and others didn't. Well, I got to know some of the 'others' now that I actually work in an office. These people are mothers, fathers, those with kids who are trying to live paycheck to paycheck. They don't drive Hummers, Escalades, or Denalis XLs (I don't hardly feel any sorrow for them). These people drive Caravans, Dakotas, Corsicas, Camrys, Explorers, etc. (non-frill vehicles). If high prices comes back, it's going to cripple some of these families who already have to face high insurance, high health care, high child care, and high rent/mortgage.

It doesn't become funny when some of these you consider your friends. Just some food for thought.

I like low gas prices too and I have just the smart and a motorcycle, but we can all predict these higher gas prices, and I can't imagine it's gonna get better as long as we're using fossil fuels for our vehicles. Anyone not living in a cave (and even the odd cavedweller) knows about the volatile price of oil due to dwindling supply, high demand, war, etc.

The upside is that the higher the gas prices go, the more people will dump the enormous land-barges which are more for status than practicality, and get vehicles they can park in one space and that more drivers can bloody see-around on the freeway.

Personally-speaking, I wish nothing against families who genuinely need as much car as they have, but those dense posers in giant land-barges by themselves who got a *big* vehicle for 'crash protection for their inevitable accident* or 'to see better' or for status or whatever....I harbor an internal delight in their suffering at the pump, I must admit. ;)

I remember in the late 70's/early 80's when most vehicles were still small and big sedans and such were being phased out during the gas crisis, and imports were tiny as well. Then, gas prices came down and vehicles got HUGE when SUV's and giant rims got trendy, so yeah, I am still kinda reacting to that coz I've always driven small cars. I bloody want to be able to see around the car in front of me without having to be in a rolling behemoth myself.
