Yes, Hood = AmericanSpeak for Bonnet.

Is that what you were getting at in post #1?

There have been many posts about how people would add some weight to the car and then drive through snowbanks ad leap tall buildings and such and all would be well. My point should have been that that is not true. What the seek is chassis balance not weight.
Many of the automotive "truths" we hold so dear are in reality a crock.

Used to haul a couple of bags. . .

Used to haul a couple of bags of sand around in the rear of my Nissan pick up when I lived in CO. About 80 lbs each, IIRC, and I know for sure it kept the rear end where it belonged (behind the front wheels) while in ice or snow. As an added bonus, when it was extra slippery and you couldn't get going, you could just pop a bag open and spread some under your drive wheels.
Oh, yeah - I took them out in the spring and put them back in the winter - usually after the first snow and sliding around would remind me.

Your pickup was designed to carry a load and was less than optimal empty.
All the weight was up front. Our smarts carry more weight on the rear wheels from the start. Any extra weight just makes things worse (degrades performance). Flies right in the face of convention no, dam I like this car.

Right,so like I said ~~2 50 lbs bags of sand on the hood (bonnet), eh?

Alternately, one keg of beer-cheese soup strapped to the grill.

I just leave the snow in the back of the pickup for weight. And I don't have to remember to take it out in the spring.

I could use some cheese Curds...

Yes, well there is a blizzard raging outside and I'm sure I've got a touch of cabin fever. Expect to be worse tomorrow. Hope the whiskey doesn't run out.
